Two fast hoop games are on hand for the games in the Ogden Commer-, cial Basketball league at the Ogden high school next Wednesday evening! and from present indications the' games should be Tast from start to finish. With the completion of play I last week the league schedule was half over and with the teams on the last laps on. the pennant race the plajers should show added life and ginger. In the first set of games the Standard Stan-dard and Never Rip teams were easy winners but the story will probably bo different next Wednesday as both the Southern Pacific and Buchmiller-Kaplan teams have strengthened and have shown Nwonderful improvement over their first b-tles. Surprise Victory The defeat of the Never Rips at the hands of the Standard players was one of the surprises of the games last week as (he majority of the fans had picked the Never Rip aggregation to cop the laurels. The work of Swain-ston Swain-ston for the Southern Pacific and Neil-son Neil-son for the Standard players was an outstanding feature of the play. Arrangements to have local league winner meet the winners of the Salt Lake and Logan leagues aro now under un-der waj and it is expected that a series se-ries of three gamse will be arranged for the team winning here. The state title games should draw record crowds. In the Salt Lake Commercial league two teams are tied for the initial ini-tial position and the leaguo winner for the fivst half of the schedule will be determined this week. The strength of the Logan teams is unknown, but the class of ball dished out by the Salt Lake and Ogdon quints is second lo none. |
