Show Lamy and McLean May Vie for Skate ffoners An effort is being made to Induce Edward Lamy, former world's professional profes-sional outdoor skating champion, to start training and keep it up for a year with the idea of meeting in 1921 Bobby McLean, present world's champion, who won the title from Lamy two years ago. A wealthy resident of Sara-anac Sara-anac Lake; has offered to bear all of Lamy's expenses during his year of training if ho will undertake to meet McLean in a series of races. The latter recently sailed for Norway where he races Oscar Mathicson, the Norwegian Norwe-gian champion, for a purse of $50,000 on February 7 and 8. Friends of Lamy, who fs now considering consid-ering the offer, are confident that he can, with proper training, regain the championship. It is asserted that ho never trained for a race, relying wholly upon his natural skill as a skater. He is now 29 years of age and a powerfully built athlete. If he accepts tho offer he will be given the best training facilities that money can procure. oo |
