Show I. KIILEB PLEASED : WITH HIS WORK p ' limy . ? I'i 1 x! A letter has been received by the S editor of the Ogden Standard from if Surgeon Relnhold Kanzler of the Unit-!f Unit-!f cd States anny, formerly a general i ' medical practitioner In Ogden, and shows the doctor to be enjoying life, ; I as Is characteristic of him, and still ; boosting Ogden and eager to geC back. It follows: "Fort Rosccrans, Oct. 20th. "After having spent all my time in J Frisco I .have been assigned, to this f ' : post and It Is more to my liking. I ex-! ex-! ' pect to be assigned to the new regN f ment that Is being formed here and my j t chances of getting across are better. I want to see the dust fly and join the j 'gang when the boys march into Bcr- Ilin. "My work has been very interesting and I have enjoyed it a great deal and my associations have been ideal. You 1 well know, being interested and at all , times giving tho boys the best you have, helps everyone concerned, though not much of a military man I ! like the life, and having Mrs. Kanzler and the children with me, makes It Ideal. "There are a few doctors who are in '. : Ogden that are not going to war. Some j : have good- reasons, but I can toll you none havo the right to sit back and say ! 'Lot tho other fellow go.' Having two I; or three children is a cause for exemption, exemp-tion, hut to my notion it is more one's duty to go, than if he had no children. I This is a war tnat must oe rougut to j a finish and should this not be done, I ! the Hun and his vicious followers will j : bring this same war, only delayed, on : my children. Believing my duty to bo to guide, direct and protect my children, child-ren, I must aid in doing a good job of I it now and finish it up in President Wilson's way. 'Fight to a finish,' or as Roosevelt said 'This war cannot be won by a typewriter but by a rapid firing gun.'" "Intended writing you several times i but kept putting it ofT, you will be glad to know that I have the rating of a surgeon and that pleases me a great I deal, I have worked for it' and I am glad to get IL 1 "Ogden, dear old Ogden! I haven't 5 'seen a town yet that I Avould trade for iU Gee but I will be glad to got back. 1 I get homesick for tho old bunch and believe me when I get back I will be 1 ; happy. To get a good cool drink again anytime of the day Is what Ogdenites only will appreciate. When in the land of sunshine a good mountain drink of ' water is something one knows nothing I of. But I have always harped on our i good water. "The fellowship of Ogden is another thing that makes me want to come! back as it is ideal. San Francisco has that kind of spirit, but I have not seen tl in any other city so far; and I want f to say more of Frisco, they are most 1 considerate of the men wearing khaki i and to us It means a" great deal."
