Show GOVERNMENT MAY FORCE USE OF WOOD AS FUEL IN PLACES WHERE TIMBER IS TO BE HAD If tho government's plans are developed, de-veloped, It will be a case of "back to tho pioneer days" for residents of Utah, Idaho, Montana and other sections sec-tions of the entire country where it Is possible to substitute wood for coal. C. F. Kornstaln, In charge of forestry investigation work with headquarters In Ogdon, left today for Washington where he will take throe months detail de-tail work. It is understood that his investigations in-vestigations will be largely directed toward the beat methods of developing the new order of using wood where posiblo as a substituto for coal. "It merely is in line with logical fuel conservation," said L. F. Knoipp, district dis-trict forostcr. "It Is a war emergency mcasuro and a wise ono a pound of coal Is almost a pound of gold in those days. In sections whore wood may substituto for coal, the new policy will Insist that It be done. This will save millions and millions of tons that may be directed into channels that will bo of most benefit to the government's fighting forces." Mr. Kornstaln will devote the entire remainder of the winter months to detail Btudy. He will return to Ogden during the early part of next spring. |
