Show j CLUB j Calendar HOME CULTURE CLUB. The Home Culture club held a pleasant pleas-ant meeting at tho homo of Mrs. O. M. Lloyd yesterday afternoon on Van Buren avenue. Following the business meeting the ladies enjoyed a social hour. CHILD CULTURE CLUB. One of the interesting events of the week was the meeting of the Child Culture club ladies at the home of Mrs. David Eccles on Jefferson avenue last Thursday afternoon for the purpose of doing Red Cross sewing. Mrs. Eccles very pleasantly closed the meeting with tea and wafers. " The Child Culture club has adjourned ad-journed for the summer and will not hold a meeting until the first Thursday in September. WHITE ROSE CLUB. The White Rose club met Thursday with Mrs. Walter Bell and Mrs. Walter Moore at tho home of the former. Beautiful lilacs and bridal roses, intertwined in-tertwined with the American flag, gave , to the occasion the patriotic touch so prevalent nowadays. Cards were indulged in-dulged in, the honors going to Mrs Murphy, Mrs. McBratney, Mrs. Day and Mrs. Turner. Those present were Mesdames Light, Scherer, Preece, Harris, Har-ris, Day, McBratney, Murphy, Checkers, Check-ers, Williams, Turner and Green and Miss Annie Daj t henext rapine will be with Mrs. J. C. Green and Mrs. Hyrum Preece. FIDELUS CLUB The Fidelus club met on the afternoon after-noon of yesterday with Miss Virginia Stevens as hostess. Interesting papers were on contemporary pianists. Miss Ovedia Holther's interpretation of the personal charm of Mrs. Beach; Miss Virginia Stevens' Insight into the life work of Julia Rive-King, and the keen knowledge with which Miss Ruby Hordtl gave to the achievements of Buson, proved beyond doubt, if any , .. iWI -umn.u& suis are really studying the component parts of contemporary music. Miss Lois Foster and Miss Myra Shreeve rendered a splendid piano solo, so-lo, and Miss Jessie Beeson's song was delightful and closed the interesting afternoon's program. The Fidelus club win hold its next meeting with Miss Myra Shreeve, and a program of much Interest will be given. The Acacia club will meet Friday week at the home of Mrs. Fred G. Taylor at her charming home on Eccles Ec-cles avenue. The Utopia club met Wednesdav afternoon af-ternoon with Mrs. Walter L. Stevens as hostess, when an afternoon of unusual un-usual interest was enjoyed. Mrs. F. Earl West has invited the club mombers, including their husbands, hus-bands, to be her guests at a dinner to bo given at her homo in Salt Lake. Mrs. Clarence S. Gunnell entertained entertain-ed her bridge club Tuesday afternoon at the Maids' and Matrons' club. Three tables of bridge were played, followed by a dainty tea. The table was centered cen-tered with a lovely gilt basket, into which bachelor buttons were arranged. arrang-ed. The Young Matrons' club was entertained en-tertained by Mrs. Rex Noggle on Wednesday Wed-nesday afternoon of this week. The time was delightfully spent in needlework needle-work and dainty refreshments closed the afternoon. BEAUTIFUL TEA AT BERTHANA Of unusual interest and in oriental settings was the tea given by three sisters, Mrs W. H. Harris, Mrs. Win. Rice Kimball and Mrs. Ted LIttlefield, who wero assisted by their mother, .Mrs. Edmund O. Wattis, and the complimented com-plimented guests, Miss Ruth and Edna Ed-na Wattis, last Monday afternoon. The affnir was given in the spacious rooms of the Berthana and the large ball room was converted into cozy nooks by means of screens of unusual beauty and oriental rugs were on the floor. Tall piano lamps lent their softening soft-ening glow to tho rooms, thronged with beautifully gowned ladies, and nothing was left undone which might add to the delight of this unique affair. af-fair. Turner. The tea table decoration was unusually un-usually effective in lavender tulle, knotted with adiantum and purple lilac li-lac and white lilac. Tho center was exquisitely banked with varl-colored lavender tulips, intermingled with white lilacs. Over a lovely Cluny lavender-lined cloth, Mrs. W. L. Wattis and Miss Oertol Rich poured and fruit punch was served during the delightful hours. Those who poured were Mrs. E. O Wattis, Mrs. W. H. Wattis, Mrs. Warren L. Wattis, Mrs. L. R.
