Show uu 'CHICAGO ATHLETES ARE PICKED' TO WIN CHICAGO, June 9. Athletes of the University of Chicago are ruled as favorites to win tho seventeenth annual an-nual track and field championship of tho Big Nino today. There are 169 athletes representing eighteen universities univer-sities and colleges in tho middle west entered in the competition. Every institution in the Big Nine, with the exception of tho Universities of Wisconsin and Minnesota, sent on teams, although nearly every squad Is crippled materially through the loss of star performers who have enlisted for military service. Outside the conference athletes aro entered from Missouri, Kansas, Notro Dame, Ames, Oberiln, Dubuque, Grln-nell, Grln-nell, Simpson, Nebraska, Superior Normal school and Michigan Agricultural Agricul-tural college. Proceeds of the meet are to bo donated do-nated to the Young Men's Christian association war relief fund and only bronze medals will be awarded the point winners in order to increase the J net recelptiL |
