The H thirteenth amendment to the federal H constitution, prohibiting involuntary H ' servitude, was invoked here today in H ' the supreme court of California to re- H ' licve Ferdinand Claudius of Oakland, H from military registration. H Walter R. Dunn, counsel for Claud- H ius, filed with the court a petition ask- H lng for a writ of prohibition against H John L. DaviB, mayor of Oakland, L. H' W. Cummings, city clerk, and their B subordinates, preventing them from Hr registering Claudius for military serv- H' ice, to which he is liable under the H The petition was taken under im- H mediate consideration by the court. |
