Show JOSEPH RIRIE'S CHEESE FACTORY Brigham City, Aug. 29. Harvesting Harvest-ing in western Boxelder county Is revealing re-vealing about one-third crops of grain in many sections. The other two-thirds two-thirds of what promised at one time to be bounteous crops was frozen during dur-ing late spring frosts throughout this section that also raised havoc with the fruit crop. However, the loss is being very materially made up in the great advance in price of grain compared com-pared with last season. A number of farmers have contracted their crops for $1.25 per bushel on the cars with sacks furnished as against 89 cents last year, an increase of 36 cents per bushel. "Velvet Brand" cheese is a new Box Elder county product that found its way to the markets of northern Utah during the past few days. Joseph Ririe is the manufacturer and his plant is located at Perry, three miles south of this city. The home product, pro-duct, of which samples were distributed distrib-uted during tho week to various business bus-iness houses here, is most excellent and up to the high standard of other Utah products. Tomato canning will commence about the latter part, of the week at the Brigham City Canning company's plant in this city. The local factory has undergone extensive repairs during dur-ing the summer and the old machinery has been replaced with tho latest improved im-proved equipment, patterned after the model cannery exhibited at the San Francisco exhibition. The complete com-plete equipment is said to bo the most modern of any in use in the state at the present time. Dr. E. P. Coburn departed yesterday yester-day for Salt Lake City from where ho will leave Wednesday for the Mexi. can border. Mr. Coburn was recently commissioned second lieutenant in the veterinary department of the National Guard. He has practiced in this city since graduating from the Kansas City Veterinary college four or five years ago. i |
