Helnio Zimmerman, Zim-merman, third baseman, was traded by the Chicago National league club tonight to' the New York Giants fori Larry Doyle, captain of the New York ' team; Hunter, a first baseman, and Jacobsen, an outfielder. Zimmerman left tonicht to tnln the Giants. The New York players play in the game against tho Phillies in the afternoon. They will come from Cincinnati, where the Giants! are playing a series. President Weedhman of the Cubs' announced the deal tonight after a week of dickering with several National Na-tional league clubs for a trade for Zimmerman, one of the hardest hitters on the Chicago team. The trade of Zimmerman for Doyle shifts two players who have been veterans of their home clubs for many years. Neither had ever played play-ed with any other major league club. Zimmermain came to the Clubs from Wilkesbarre, Pa., eight years ago. Doyle was bought by the Giants from Dick Klnsella's Springfield (Illinois) Three-I league team In 1907 and was In his ninth year with the Giants. Zimmerman had been battling just a trifle under .300 with the Cubs this season, but was unable to get alongi with Manager Joe Tinker.
