Show oo COWED Ml IS FID $25 Charles Howard, a colored driver of a local automobile service runabout, was fined 25 this morning by Municipal Muni-cipal Judge Geo. S. Barker, for speeding. speed-ing. He was taken Into custody Saturday Satur-day night by Patrolman W. W. Richardson Rich-ardson and Detective P. J. Naylln at Twenty-fifth street and Washington avenue. The offense was committed, according to Junior Rich, LeGrand Pingree and tho arresting oficers, shortly after tho second vaudeville performance at the Orpheum theatro was concluded and the theater-goers were on tho street. Howard, they said, made a wide turn from Twenty-fifth street, at a rate of about twenty-five miles per hour north onto the avenue, narrowly missing miss-ing several pedestrians, Including Rich and Pingree. It -was the negro's second sec-ond offense and the judge deemed a substantial fine advisable and do-served. do-served. James Kenny was sentonced to servo 10 days in jail. He was arrested arrest-ed while slightly intoxicated and under un-der circumstances, it was said, that pointed to his having "rolled" anothor man. The "other man" failed to appear ap-pear in court, however, and the more serious complaint was not issued. H. Hardy, a drunk, was given a five-day five-day sentence, and John Doe, arrested for a similar offense, forfeited $5 bail. For carrying a concealed weapon a .45 callbro revolver John Stines was fined $10. Ho was arrested last night by Patrolman Moore on lower Twenty-fifth street Bill Greene, arrested ar-rested by Officer Shoemaker in the railroad roads, on a charge of trespass, tres-pass, was sentenced to serve 15 days in jail or to pay a $15 fine. James Roberts, a Greek charged with selling liquor without a license, forfeited $100 bail. Ho was arrested on tho night of August 20 by Sergeants Ser-geants J. F. Kelliher and O. H. COW BOARD WILL IT COIN REEVE Before the county commissioners adjourned yesterday afternoon, they considered the appointment of Jack Reeve as chief deputy to County Recorder Re-corder tAngus Berlin. Mr. Berlin offered of-fered the position to Mr. Reeve to succeed A. B. Petterson. The commissioners refused to confirm con-firm Reeve's appointment as it was stated no reason was given for the release of Mr. Petterson, who an-nounced an-nounced himself a candidate for the Republican nomination for county re corder, and, while he was on his vacation va-cation received notice that a continuance contin-uance of his duties was not desired.
