Show IB STEERS fiH 10 BARBECUE B BAMBERGER The visitors to Ogden, on Saturday, the closing day of the Jfarvest Festival, Festi-val, will have roast beef and lamb, according to Tom Burt, chairman of tho barbecue committee. On Saturday, Satur-day, Mr. Burt says, ho was sought out by Simon Bamberger, Democratic candidate for governor, who said he would furnish the two steers, needed for the feast, free of all cost. "They will be two of the choicest beeves of the state," Mr. Bamberger said. Determined that the Salt Lake man should not alone carry the honor of having donated meat for tho barbecue, barbe-cue, Mayor A. R. Heywood went on a still hunt for Chairman Burt yesterday yester-day and, after locating him, proffered proffer-ed the genial barbecue manager two lambs for the feast. The proffer was promptly accepted and now a "feed" even more sumptuous than was at first expected, is in store for Ogden's festival guests. Salt Lake City, Utah, Sept. 3, 1916. Mr. Thomas G. Burt, chairman, Ogden, Utah. Dear Mr. Burt: On reaching Ogden yesterday .Saturday .Sat-urday morning) I was surprised to find the city so beautifully decorated and my first inquiry was, who had given the information informa-tion to the busy people of Ogden that their next governor was to visit their city? Laying all jesting aside, however, how-ever, I feel that the preparations made for the barbecue justified my asking for tho privilege to furnish two head of beef and you will oblige me by purchasing them and sending the bill to me. Taking into consideration that my railroad interests in Weber county are as extensive, if not more so than in Salt Lake county, coun-ty, I always wish to be considered consid-ered In any enterprise that may further the interest of Ogden or Weber county. Yours very respectfully, re-spectfully, SIMON BAMBERGER. oo |
