These clubs are playing a series of three games for the amateur championship of the state and the fans are promised high-class entertainment. The first game of the series was played yesterday in Salt Lake nd was I won by the Stall & Deans by the narrow nar-row margin of one run. The fielding features of the contest were staked by Vandiver and Fitzpatrick, each of whom retired the opposing side with sensational plays. Kirkpatrick, Sor-enson Sor-enson and Wessler carried off the batting honors, all securing extra-base hits, but it remained for "Shorty" Wliiams of the Ogden club to make the most valuable hit of the game, a single that brought in two runs.
