Mrs. Kelliher was hostess to St, Joseph's sewing society Thursday afternoon in the church hall. The refreshments. BIRTHDAY SURPRISE PARTY. One of the pleasant home social affairs af-fairs of the week was a birthday surprise sur-prise party and family reunion at the home of Gilbert Torgeson, 314 Twenty-first Twenty-first street, Tuesday evening. The guest of honor was Mr Torgeson, the occasion being the 70th anniversary of his birth and the 43 mile-stone he has passed since emigrating to Utah from Norway, as a Mormon convert He was one of Ogden's first tailors nnd still follows that trade, in addition addi-tion to being actively engaged in the service of the members of the Third ward, through the medium of his office offi-ce as a ward teacher, member of tho old folks committee and head of the ward geneloglcal committee. For many years, he was a counselor in tho ward bishopric and he has also served a 3-year's mission In Norway. His youngest son, Carl E. Torgeson, the only member of the family who did not participate in the reunion, is now serving as a Mormon missionary in Canada The Torgeson home, which was built by the head of the family in .1882. was prettily decorated for the party and the evening was very pleasantly pleas-antly passed by the 19 members of the family living in Ogden, including children, sons and daughters-in-law and grandchildren, and 2 nieces of Mr. Torgeson, Lizzie Norseth and Belle Williams The members of the family present were Gilbert Torgeson, Mr and Mrs Fred Bluth and Gordon, Laurence, Marcus and Weyman Bluth, Mr. and Mrs. Lorin Torgeson, Loraine and Ada Torgeson; Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Jo-seph T. Torgeson nnd John, Richard and Kingsley Charles Torgeson; Mr. and Mrs. Otis A. Torgeson and Joy Torgeson The concluding feature of J the reunion was a finely appointed supper, at which the guest of honor was presented with a well-filled purse, by his children, as a substantial token J of their regard. Garner, as a token of esteem by I the association, the table was ar-l ar-l ranged and a dainty luncheon served by Mrs. H. E. Garner and her aids J to the delight of all present. The Royal Neighbors of America will hold "an installation of officers in the Odd Fellows hall, Monday, January 24, when all members are requested re-quested to be present. MARRIED FOLKS' DANCE. Next Thursday evening. January 27 the M. I. A. of the Eleventh ward will give a "Married Folks' Dance" in the -ward amusement hall. Refreshments will be served and a jolly time is assured as-sured everyone. AT PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH. The men's supper served Monday night in First Presbyterian church, was a. success in spite of the snowstorm snow-storm Between seventy-five and one hundred men were in attendance and speeches were delivered by Mr. .Michener of Ogden and Mr. Castor, Y. M. C. A. secretary of Salt Lake DANCE AT EAGLES' HALL. The Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen Train-men entertained at a dancing party last evening in the Eagles' hall to which about 200 members of the order, or-der, their wives and friends were present. The event was thoroughly enjoyed. Refreshments were served. ELKS' DANCE WEDNESDAY. The local B. P. O. Elks will give their next dancing party, Wednesday evening, January 26. A varied program pro-gram of dance numbers has been arranged ar-ranged and the Elks and their ladles are looking forward to a delightful evening's entertainment. MRS. CHRISTINA FRYE MARRIED. The following account of the wedding wed-ding of Mrs Christina Frye of Ogden Og-den and Stiehl Gerding of Salt Lake In Los Angeles last AVednesday, January Jan-uary 19, was clipped from the Los Angeles Tribune Frye-Gerding Wedding. Wednesday evening Mrs. Christina Frye of Ogden was united in marriage to Stiehl Gerding, only a few close friends witnessing the ceremony, which took place at the Church of the Latter-Day Saints Tho bride wore a white broadcloth suit with white hat and carried white roses, her only attendant. The second of a series of four dinner din-ner dances to be held at the Maids' and Matrons' attractive club rooms, will be given Monday January 24. In the afternoon the ladles will be entertained at tea with dancing between be-tween courses and in the evening the gentlemen will also be present when dancing will be the main feature of amusement, SEWING CLUB. The Third Ward Relief Society gave a dancing party last evening in the ward amusement hall when a varied var-ied program of dance numbers was enjoyed. Refreshments served and a general sociability reigned. AUCTION BRIDGE CLUB.
