Show uo CONVERGING FIRE ON VERDUN. German war reports tell of tho con centric artillery fire which they are bringing to bear on Verdun. Starting to the north and east of tho fortress, the Germans pushed home their drive to the north, which has allowed them to establish a seml-clrclo of great guns within range of Verdun. Now the problem is to gradually draw that Hue of artillery in to a smaller semi-circle as a nearer approach to the fortress is ealned. If the French can weaken any part of the German line north or south of Verdun, with a prospect of flanging the mighty army operating under the direct command of tho Kaiser, they can check the "closlng-in" on Verdun. |
