Show SR00TI1 A LINE OVER DAMAGED STACK AT THE SHOPS Another large portion of the immense im-mense smokestack at the local Southern South-ern Pacific power house wrecked by an explosion of fuel oil gas a few nights ago, fell yesterday afternoon, damaging the adjoining building to a considerable extent. Deeming it necessary to take immediate im-mediate measures to prevent further damage, the "services of Chief George A. Graves and several members of the Ogden fire department were call-d call-d for by Assistant Superintendent H. L. Bell of the Salt Lake division ot the Southern Pacific, to assist in determining de-termining tho further extent of the danger and to devise ways and meains to remedy it. Chief Graves and his men ascertained that there was about twelve feet of the standing portion of tho stack in danger of falling and the small cannon at tho central fire station sta-tion will be called into action this afternoon to shoot a cable over the stack, so that the dangerous portion can be pulled down. It Is probable that the remainder of the stack will be torn down aud the -whole structure rebuilt. 00 |
