Show 'LEGISLATURE TO ASSIST IN PROBE Boise. Ida., Jan. 11 The house of j representatives of the thirteenth Idaho Ida-ho legislature decided today to join the BpeCial grand jury and the corps of expert accountants and conduct an j investigation into the Btatehouse scandal and treasury steal, so that three independent bodies are now i probing Into the conditions brought i about under the dome of Idaho's new capitoL Immediately after convening this morning Representative Johnston of Brlgbam county, the Republican floor leader, offered a resolution in the house calling on Speaker Conner to appoint a committee of seven to conduct con-duct an investigation into the several slate departments, examine their books, issue subpoenas, conduct public hearings and reach findings as to the guilt or innocence of state officers or subordinates charged with violating violat-ing the laws. The resolution was adopted by a vote of 37 to 27. Speaker Conner appointed the following fol-lowing as members of the committee: Representative Randall of Latah, chairman. Representative Randall of Nez Perce. Gilchrist of Jefferson , Shattuck of Bonneville, Koelsch of Ada, Republicans; Farria of Twin Tails, Cannon of Elmore, Democrats .Minority Leader Anderson attempted to force the adoption of a substitute motion providing that no Investigation Investiga-tion be begun before the grand Jury has completed its probe and the ex-perts ex-perts have finisher! their report on the treasury department He contended contend-ed that an investigation by the legislature legisla-ture while the grand jury is In sion would ''permit the opportunity for pernicious activities of designing design-ing partisans to strive for mere political po-litical advantage without regard to the interests of the people of Idaho" Speaker Conner ruled the resolution out of order as Impugning the motives mo-tives of the assembly Atter the morning sessions the sen-ati sen-ati nd bouse adjourned until 10 o'clock tomorrow morning The ' L-ate L-ate Ilea-" a special message from Governor Alexander, recommending an appropriation of 12250 to go toward to-ward paying the expenses of Expert W. Senator Hutton of Shoshone introduced intro-duced the first senate bill, seeking to fix the district school tax levy at 15 mills. Other county division issues were brought before the hduse The first came from Evans of Gooding and calls tor the creation of Camas county out of a part of Blaine county, and designates Fairfield as the county seat. Taylor of Madison introduced a bill to create Teton count) out of Madison county, with Driggs as the county seat Governor Alexander announced th9 following appointments. Jones i ol Gooding, state game warden, to; succeed P C Gowan, and William Thorpe of Caldwell as chief deputv., Freehafer is a former state senator1 and an atrorney.
