Show 1 1. WATTIS ELECTED PRESIDENT OF IE WEBER CLUB i I V. H. Wattis was yesterday elected president of the Weber club with a majority of 184 votes over W. J Parker, Park-er, his only opponent for the office The other officers elected were as follows Vice president Fred W. Qentsch. Treasurer A. P. Bigelow I Directors William A Larking, Dr C. F Osgood, Carl C. Rasmussen and Fred G. Taylor The election was by ballot and the polls were open at the club rooms from 11 a. m. to 7 p. ni the judges being Fred W. Ilerrington, j. M. For listall, J. S. Rodman, Theodore Schan-senbach Schan-senbach and J. W. F. Volker. The results were announced at the annual meeting of the club last night by Acting Act-ing Secretary J. D Larson and the detailed vote was as follows. For president. W, II Wattis. 206; W J Parker, 42, for vice president F W. Gentsch 116, R B. Porter 50. John S Lewis 82, H. C. Wood 37; for treasurer A P. Bigelow 90 s G. fjye 25, R. A Moves 58, .Tarn H. Rl-ley Rl-ley 25, W Arthur Wright, 44, for di rectors, 8 H. Bullif 34, J, S, Carlson 94. W H. Harris 7C, William A. After the cheering, which greeted the reading of the names of the suc-cessful suc-cessful candidates, was over, the now " president was called upon for a speech He made a brief response, conveying a sincere feeling of appreciation appre-ciation to the club members for tho honor they had shown him and ex pressing a desire to perform the duties du-ties of the office with honor to the club Joseph Scowcroft, the retiring president, pres-ident, was also called upon for an address and his response was to the effect that his work at the head of the club had been enjoyable and he had at all times received the loyal support and co-oeration of its officers offi-cers and members. At the conclusion conclu-sion of the addresses and the finishing finish-ing up of several special matters of business, the clubmen adjourned to the dining room and enjoyed a "Dutch" lunch. The meeting and the social which followed were among the most en thusiastic and enjoyable ever held at the club and the attendance of approximately ap-proximately 300 members was the largest ever noted. rtrt |
