Show oo WONDERFUL MINE IN ALASKA With the development of the Alaska Alas-ka Gold Mines, the discovery has been made that the concentrating plant at Garfield, in Utah, will answer all the purposes of concentration of the ores of the great Alaskan properly being opened up b D. C. Jackling and others. A recent report by the company com-pany says- "During the two and one-half years that the Alaska Gold Mines has been under the control of the present interests, in-terests, the development of the mine preparatory to operation has both greatly increased the known tonnage and has demonstrated an Increase in the average grade of the ore above the 1.5flj per ton originally estimated. Likewise the metallurgical resul(3 have proved that the concentration process similar to that In use at the larger low-grade copper mines, but more or less new to the ;old industry, indus-try, is entirely adaptable to these ores and. Indeed, assures a high recover re-cover of the gold value at a low cost In view or rhese facts, the directors are convinced of the desirability of extending the milling operations to a capacity ol 20,000 toni .per day as rapidly as practicable and. indeed, as all indications during the last year and one-half have pointed to this, the construction and eQUipmi D1 have been carried out largely with a vie to such future Increased production.' The application of the copper COD centratlon system is another advancement advance-ment made in the treatment of low-grade low-grade bod;cs of sold ores which may jrreatl enlarge the field of mining. This Alaskan propcrtv promises to ii' the most extensively operated gold mine in the world. With a milling capacity of 20,000 tons a day, the re- I ductlon planl can handle over seven j million tons of ore -, year. At that j rate, thirty years would be required to exhaust the present known ore! bodies on the propertj near luneau New veins of pre.it size are being ills-covered, ills-covered, making the prospective ore resources so large as to he beyond i calculation. T n years from now may see thfl Alaska (Job! Mines bfing open ted with a production of 50,000 tons i day, yielding over $20,000,000 yearly In gold There are no gold mines to compare j with this in tonnage except those of the Rand, in South Africa. |
