Show I VALUATION i OF FARM I LANDS M mm"'- rhe regular weekly business of the Wm board of county commissioners could mm , not well be taken up yesterday morn- HB lag, due to the fact that there were IKS j .many taxpayers on hand to meet WJm ' with the board of equalization regard- MWt 1 .lng taxes this year. In the afternoon, HI however, the commissioners attended to regular county business and passed on questions of importance respecting road building and the care of the public pub-lic highways. To settle questions respecting valuations valu-ations of real estate nnd to become moro fully advised as to claims of over assessment preferred by property owners, tho board of commissioners today will visit the county districts west and north of Ogden. Dinner will bo taken at Hooper in the evening and the commissioners will have the pleasuro of meeting some of the Indian fighters of early days. It is said by somo of the farmers that lands near Ogden have been placed at rather a high valuation while better lands in the districts farther away from the city are given a low valuation. As a matter of fact they contend a great deal of the lands in the outer districts 'are of greater value than those In the vicinity of Ogden and are producing more each year in the various kinds of crops. It Is 6aid by those who profess to know that many of the farms in Hooper and other sections west and north of the city furnish a bigger income than property within a etono's throw of tho city limits and yet they are assessed at a much lower valuation. On their trip today the commissioners commis-sioners will endeavor to make a classification clas-sification of the lands and govern themselves according to that classification classi-fication when tho time for equalizing assessments arrives. on |
