Show 00 WORTHLESS CHECKS ON A MAN Tho police spent a busy day investigating in-vestigating the case of J. H. Davis, who was arrested at 8 o'clock Monday Mon-day night by Officer John Cooney on suspicion of havln gpasscd some worthless checks. Davis was locked up after he had made three attempts to pass $10 chacks at tho Potter cafe on Twenty-fifth street. When taken into custody the man, who claims to be an Iron molder from Salt Lake, had five checkB on his person. All of the checks wore written In the amount of $10 each, and they were each signed with the name of James Foley, a name which does not appear In the city or telephone I directory. Detectives are looking into the case today, and tho charge against Davis is being held open. The officers believe be-lieve thoy may find that Davis negotiated ne-gotiated one or more checks Monday, and tho checks are looked upon by tho police as being positively worthless. |
