Show C ampagne Riots Causing Caus-ing Government of France Uneasiness Paris, April 12. The French government gov-ernment Is disturbed over the riots in the champagne district of Marne, resulting re-sulting from the adoption of a resolution resolu-tion by tho senate yesterday In favor of the suppression of all territorial de-, de-, limitations. Instructions have been sent to tho commanders of troops In the disturbed disturb-ed region to preserve order and save property, but not to prevent orderly processions. Tho "champagne ( riots," which began in this department I yesterday, were continued this morning morn-ing by the excited populace Wine , cellars are beln? destroyed and the disorder is spreading in spite of the J presence of troops called out to preserve pre-serve order The trouble in this department de-partment began yesterday on the receipts re-ceipts of the news from Paris that the senate had passed fi resolution in favor fa-vor of suppression of all territorial delimitations de-limitations of the area in which wine can legally be designated as cham-I cham-I pagne Seven thousand wine growers left here this morning, marching on Epernay, Eper-nay, four miles distant, to destroy the wino cellars there. The inanifestants were admirably organized and were aroused to a pitch of fervor During tho progress of the advanco they sang revolutionary hymns and waved red standards This they did to disown the government which, thoy affirm has abandoned them to ruin They declare the government gov-ernment acted as a result of the steps taken by the makers of inferior grades of wine. The column had reached the town of Aye at noon Co-operttlug with another band which had reached Aye from a different direction, the rioters riot-ers proceeded to Venteuil. where they destroyed the huge wine presses. Troops then dispersed the mob. The attorney general wont to Venteuil Ven-teuil by automobile today with the object of investigating the situation, but was unable to advance through Xhe streets because they were piled high with broken champagne bottles.
