Show IRE CHANGES IN "yFACULIY SALT LAKE CITY, April 11 Tho regular quarterly meeting of the ro-gents ro-gents of the University of Utah was concluded .Monday afternoon. ThoBo present were Chairman W. W. Rlter and Regents Lund. Williams, Stephens, Steph-ens, Kingsbury, Armstrong and Mid-dlcton. Mid-dlcton. Mr. Armstrong and Dr. Mld-dleton Mld-dleton aro the two new members of the board of regents, appointed recently re-cently by Governor Spry. An Important Impor-tant report submitted was that of the advisory committee on tho recommendation recommen-dation of President Kingsbury relating relat-ing to the employment of Instructors for the years 1911-12. In addition to tho changes announced In tho Zlon papers pa-pers yesterday, it was decided to employ em-ploy Albert L Taylor as teacher In electricity and mechanical laboratory and Miss Laura Poulson as Instructor In physical education. Tho school of physical education Is a regular course In the summer school this yoar. The following promotions were made, Levi EdgnV Young, from assistant yro-feBsor yro-feBsor of Uiistory to associate professor pro-fessor of history; Kenneth AVllliams. from Instructor In chemistry to assistant assist-ant professor of mining; Thomas B Brighton from assistant In chemistry to Instructor in chemistry; Dr. John Sundwnll has derided to remain away at least another year, and Dr. Charles T. Vorhies has boen made acting dean of the medical school for the coming year, In addition to his position as professor of zoology, Jacob Bolln, pro fessor of physical education, recom-mendod recom-mendod that the women's athletic ' field be graded preparatory to tho Improvements Im-provements that aro contemplated. The recommendation was referred to the building committee of the board of regents, with powor to act. New Central Building. Tho building committee reported that in their opinion tho best way to get satisfactory results In the building build-ing projects would be to select satisfactory satis-factory architects and not to open tho field to competition. The committee ' recommended that two firms of architects be omployed without either one having preference over the other nnd that Cannon and Fetzor, and Ramm Hansen be tho architects for the central building for the university uni-versity oo |
