Hitherto It had been presumed no blood spots existed near the place where Mrs. Beattle is supposed to havo succumbed. Alexander Robertson was tho boy and what he told the jury unexpectedly unexpect-edly In response to a question from counsel for the defense, entirely up-eet up-eet the plan of the prosecution to rest Its case today Prosecutor Wen-denhurg Wen-denhurg said that It would be neces-snry neces-snry for him to call at least seven or eight witnesses to controvert the boy's testimony. Tells of Blood Spots. On direct testimony Robertson referred re-ferred to the hair pin ho found near I the blood spot which was supposed to belong to Mrs. BeattJe. The boy told of a second blood spot and of several other smaller ones nepr It , -The revelation 'concerning tho presence pres-ence of more than one blood spot is in lino with the contention of the do-fenso do-fenso that all blood on tho road oozed from the car In which Beattlo alleged al-leged his wife was shot. The prosecution's prose-cution's theory has been that the largo blood spot In tho road In tho placo whero Mre. Beattlo is alleged to havo been killed resulted from a murder committed outside the machine and not In the seat, as Ilonry alleges. The prosecution has pointed out by witnesses that no blood was found on either running board of the car and that the duHt-pan underneath I M tho car would have caught any blood that trickled through the part of the machine Trom the seat and that all blood visible had hardened on the floor of the car Just beneath tho steering steer-ing wheel. Proved an Important Witness. Robertson was summoned as a witness wit-ness by the prosecution only for the purpose of stating that he had found a hair pin, but his testimony on cross-examination cross-examination Indicated that he would be an Important witness for the defense de-fense and ho may be called by that side In the meantime the prosecution prosecu-tion will gather witnesses to show that many people looked for other blood spots and found none. - Tbo prosecution announced just before be-fore adjournment of court at 4:30 today to-day that after tho introduction of several sev-eral witnesses along this line, the prosecution would rest Its case. The Robertson boy has - been employed em-ployed about the court room in carrying carry-ing his brother's manuscript from the court house to a telegraph office nearby near-by and as he finished in the witness chair he grabbed several sheets of matter written by his brother about his own testimony and dashed to tho improvised telegraph office in a barn 73 yards away. |
