Long, tho millionaire lumberman, who is widely known throughout the country for his philanthropic gifts to churches, lecolved a threatening letter last month, demanding that he leave ?3,-000 ?3,-000 at a certain designated place for tho writer of the letter According to Inspector of Dotectlvos Slckafoose, the police are holding a man arrested near the Long home In , connection with the case. The prisoner pris-oner was armed with a revolver and had been acting suspiciously. Tho only charge against him, however, is that of carrylng-'concealed weapons. It Is said that Mr. Long, who is now at Coronado Beadh, Cal , with his family, fam-ily, will not prosecute the case, as he desires to avoid publicity. V - fr |
