Show Murderer Escapes in a Taxicab After the Shooting Chicago, Aug. 30. A tong war, which has been threatened for some time, broke out In Chinatown last night and as a result Lee Yip Wing, a merchant, Is dead and Moy Dong Tong, a laundryman, is In a critical condition at a hospital. Both were shot twice. The sliootlng was done by Chu Lu Hun, who escaped In a taxicab. . Moy Dong Tong is a cousin of Frank Moy, "King of Chinatown."' The police po-lice believe the refusal of the men to comply with demands of the Hep Sing tong led up to the shooting. Chou Foo Moy, brother of a man sought by the police, was. taken into custody soon after the murder, and Is being held at the Harrison street station. The trouble last Tilght came at a time when the basement store of Wing was filled with men. There was a wild scramble to escape when the murderer opened fire. Standing on the steps leading to the place, the Chinese pointed his revolver at Wing and fired The Chinese merchant was struck by the first bullet and fell to the floor. With his revolver pointed at the terrified loungers in tho .store, the slayer backed . up the starway and dashed down the basement steps lead-ing lead-ing to Louis Sings' store. Shouting that he would shoot the first one who tried to stop him, the murderer darted dart-ed out of the rear door and fled as far east as Dearborn street, where he escaped In a taxicab.
