The meeting ot business men 'and all citize'ns of Ogden which was heW at the Weber county court house l''ef evening for the purpose of consider iug the railroad proposition and the South Fork rercrvolr matter was wc1' attended. The railroad rail-road proposition was in regard to tho single fare for the round trip from all points adjacent to this city during dur-ing the Intermountaln Four-State Fair and Intermountain Sheep show. At the opening of the meeting Mayor May-or Glasmnnn explained that since the meeting had been called A. R. Hey-wood Hey-wood and himself had called on D. E Burlcy, general passenger agent of the Oregon Short Line, at Salt Lake and had been assured of a satisfactory- rate by the railroad official. For this reason Mr. Burlej did not attend tho meeting. In view of this special rate which is to be granted the chairman of the meeting was authortzed to appoint a committee of five, which he will do at a later dale, to get up the necessary neces-sary advertising matter This committee com-mittee was empowerei to create u suitable scheme for advertising this I rateand the cost' of the same Is fn" be' pro-rated among the business men of the city. , South Fork Proposition. After a liberal discussion of the proposition It was unanimously voted that the committee be given every encouragement to the end that the reservoir be cbnstructed. The desire de-sire was expressed that work bo started start-ed this fall in order that there be a supply of water for next year. The chairman was authorized to appoint three more members to the committee to assist the present members, mem-bers, Commissioner Madson and Mayor May-or Glasmann, in soliciting stock snles. All those at the meeting with the possible exception of Peter Mattson, were enthusiastically in favor of thp South Fork project Mr Mattson said he could not see where the water was to be stored even If the dam was built and the remainder of his speech, if thpre waa any, was drowned in laughter. The meeting was the means of Instilling now lue into the reservoir res-ervoir pioject. |
