Show MANV FRUIT' BUYERS IN THECITV The peach season has opened and a dozen representatives or eastern fruit biokers aro In the city making arrangements to supply their districts with the product of Utah orchards, It Is estimated that five hundred cars of Elberta peaches will be Shipped from Ogden before the orchards of Weber and I3o, Elder counties arc stripped. Tho fruit is largelv boing handled by the Utah Fruit exchange, bul this association is working iii conjunction with the Pioneer Fruit company of Sacramento, Cal., which has offices on Washington avenue. The actual handling of the fruit, after It is placed In the cars for shipment Is done' by tho Pacific Fruit Express company, whleh looks after the Icing of tho cars and their transportation. Manager Gtinnell of tho Pacific Fruit Express company stated this morning that the season Is oponlng In a most satisfactory manner. Four cars arc being loaded In the local yards today, three ot these Tor tho Cragilil Brothers' company, and one for tho Utah Fruit Exchange. H M. Ellis, vice president of the Pioneer company, arrived In Ogden this morning from Sacramento. Ho left during the forenoon foV Brlghain City iu an automobllo and will look over the fruit situation nt first hand during the next two days. Secretary J. M. White of the Utah Fruit Exchange, in speaking of tho I'm It situation this morning stated that the association expects to haudle at least 350 cars of peaches. A better bet-ter estimation of this amount can bo gained when it is stated that 1,13-1 boxes of peaches are packed in each car. According to Mr. "Whllo nearly all of this fruit will be sent to tne Central states and to the south. Very little of it, he says, will cross the Mississippi, although samo will find Its way into the Chicago markets. Tho season is opening with a little lower prices than those which obtained ob-tained at the beginning of the sea-sou sea-sou last year Elberta peaches aro now bringing the growers from 40 to GO cents per box, the average price paid being 50 cents. It is expected that this figure will be lowered as the peach season generally opens with prices above the normal. The quality qual-ity of the fruit is about tho same as last year, with a prospect of Improvement Improve-ment as the season progresses.
