Show ENTERTAINING MEETING. HOME AND SCHOOL ORGANIZATION. ORGANIZA-TION. Gives Interesting Program. The Home and School Organization gave a delightful musical and literary liter-ary program last night, in the music room of the high school. A paper, "Physical Education," was read by Mrs. Vickers. who has charge of that department in the school. In a most comprehensive and .entertaining manner, the speaker discussed dis-cussed the question of physical education edu-cation for boys and girls, and urged that more attention be given, especially espe-cially to physical exercises for girls of all ages. It is a matter of -regret that the complete paper canot be reproduced re-produced in this issue. Mrs. C. T. Woodbury, teacher of music, rendered an enjoyable piano solo, which received unstinted approval. ap-proval. Miss Mills, the teacheY of Dramatics, gave a splendid reading, "Jane Jones," which pleased the audience au-dience greatly. An instrumental selection, violin and piano, by Shirley Atkin and Miss Palmer, elicited much applause. Professor Miner, in a reading, which he declared to be merely his own production of ideas written by another man, held his audience in close and interested attention, for al-. most an hour. The reading dealt with the experiences of life, maintaining that the best education of all is obtained ob-tained in the "University of Hard Knocks," where the "bumps" of this life, help to make real men and women, men and women who are sturdy, both physically, mentally and morally. The sketch was humorous, but was full of food for careful thought to the student of phsycology. At the close of the program, Principal Prin-cipal Miner announced that next Wednesday night, a business men's class in physical culture would be formed at the high school "gym.," with accommodations for about ten members. Also that on Monday evening even-ing a ladies' class would be organized, for a similar purpose. Both ladies and gentlemen were urged to interest inter-est themselves in these classes. The meeting was one of the most enjoyable yet held. |
