Show Toll-free Telephone aids Citizens An effort to make state government more responsive to citizens and local governments in the outlying areas of the state, has been initiated by the State Department of Community affairs. af-fairs. The department has initiated a new toll-free telephone service that went into operation Tuesday. The main thrust, of fhr ' program is to' provide an easy" way for citizens or local governments to contact state government about problems encountered in the field of human services delivered or service needs. The number is 1-800-662-3720 and will be listed in new editions of telephone directories under Utah State Government. Calls will be documented to identify recurring problems. A long-range goal of the service will be to seek solutions to those problems through recommendations recom-mendations to the Governor, Legislature, or the agency with the power to effect a change. Problems requiring local solutions will be referred back to those agencies that are in a position to assist, problems or issues relating to state or a federal level will be referred to the appropriate agency for action. |
