Show Lead tightens in Parowan Little League PAROWAN The race for the top spot in Parowan's Little League tightens as the Braves come up with important wins. Opening game last week saw the Reds dominating the Cubs 29 to 9. The difference seemed to be the fine batting of the Reds as they outhit the Cubs 14 to 2. The pitchers proved to be their strength at the bat as Neil Orton and Danny Evans led their respective clubs in hits. The second game was one of the most exciting of the season for the spectators as the Braves edged the Mets in a tough season battle. The Mets started with the lead and lost it in the second .inning. They then came back to lead again in the 5th. Bui Beads-up Braves Club caught u&"again anc won the game. A young lady, Debbie Allen was a stafrfor the Reds in ! the next game as she Sapped two Met threats in the 2nd and 4ath innings with two fine defensive, plays. Tim Beaumont was the winning win-ning pitcher and added three hits to help the Reds. Russell Benson and Brian Orton came up with two good hits each for the Mets. The Cubs threatened the Braves in the third game, but were, unable to hold as the Braves came from behind to win 27 to 14. Eric Adams and Renando Matheson were the top players for the Braves. Mike Rogerson was a top player for the Cubs. The final game, which started out as a pitching contest ended up as an error filled disaster for the Mets. The Reds played an excellent game to defeat the Mets 13 to 7. The Mets were stopped by the pitching of Doug Hermansen in the early part of the - game, and their late challenge fell short. Doug Hermansen and Freddy Baker were leaders for the Reds and Scott Thornton and Russell Benson played well for the Mets.
