Show Virginia Higbee to attend National Confab 1 1 A Cedar City woman will represent Utah at a National Center for Voluntary Action Trainer Institue July 19-23 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Virginia Higbee, Cedar City Coordiantor of Volunteer Services, Ser-vices, was chosen as one of fifty volunteer workers to participate in the national conference. "The trainer Institue will include in-clude training in every phase of voluntary work, from organizational goals and management skills to the recruitment and training of volunteers," she said. Following the training session, Mrs. Higbee will act as a consultant con-sultant to other Utah groups beginning volunteer programs in their respective communities. Under her direction, a Voluntary Action Center is being organized in Cedar City. She is; working with a Community VISTA Volunteer, Sandy DiCianno, in several area projects. Mrs. Higbee " was a VISTA volunteer from 1967-68 at Point Hope, Alaska. She has been working as the Cedar City Coordinator of Volunteer Services for two years, during which time she has established a Volunteer Board, instigated programs to provide supplimentary services to the Escalante Day Care Center, 'reactivated the Headstart-type campus, helped form the southern Utah Handicapped Association, and developed programs offering support for the Adult Developmentally Disabled. She and her husband Robert are the parents of two children, , Tommy, four and Holly, two. She is a 1973 graduate of SUSC. VIRGINIA HIGBEE |
