Show "Happy Birthday America!!!" By Mary Gae Evans PAROWAN - What a party! I'll bet Uncle Sam had a headache by Tuesday morning. I was so inspired by all the flag waving nd bell ringing it was all I could "Ho to keep from running right out o enlist in the marines. ' I watched Yankee Doodle movies on TV, applauded the parade, ate all I could at the Chuckwagon breakfast and listened to a beautiful redition of delivered" by gubernatorial candidate Scott Matheson at the patriotic meeting on the morning of the 5th, and well, anyway, you can tell we had a good time in Parowan on the 5th celebrating the birthday and keeping up our traditions we all love so much. I only hope everyone had as special a time as we did. Happy Birthday America ! ! the Star Spangled Banner at the Parowan Race Track. I tried to get one of my married daughters to run with me in the mother and daughter race during ; the sports at the park but they graciously declined. Well come to think of it they weren't too "gracious. They didn't say so but I Think they were afraid I'd fall , down and make a scene. I o-o-oh'd and a-a-a-ah'd at the fireworks display and went home to soak my feet. But it was quite a day. Verl and Beverly Taylor, chairmen of the celebration, deserve a big vote of thanks for the work they and their committee com-mittee have done to make such a perfect day possible. A big vote of thanks also to the Parowan Volunteer Fire Department for the work that went into organizing the afternoon of sports and the fireworks display climaxed by a huge American Flag glistening red white and blue and 50 rockets set off in swift succession in honor of the 50 United States. A special thanks should be given to all those who built the beautiful floats for the parade and the PHS band and marching Rammettes who took some of their vacation time to prepare numbers for the parade.
