Ethna and Barbara Williams are in Eugene, Ore. visiting their daughter and sister Lauralie and Terry Williams and girls. Tracy Stokes of Salt Lake City spent a week here with his uncle and aunt John and Teresa Batty. Brett Baldwin of Boulder City, Nev. came to spend a couple of weeks here with his grandparents grand-parents Mr. and Mrs. Sherald Peterson. Mr. Willard Batty underwent minor surgery Wed. at Valley View Medical Center to have a lump removed from his left arm. Mr. and Mrs. Lional Davis of Henderson, Nev. moved their trailer here for a few weeks to enjoy the holidays and reunions and visiting friends and relatives. Sunday dinner guest at the home of Chester and Carma Williams were their children Deborah and Ronald Blake and children of Santa Clara, Jeffrey and Ellen Williams of St. I George; Chesley Williams and son Jeremy and friend Jim Tueller of Salt Lake City; Michael and Rosalie Hawkins. Carma's niece and family Colleen and Lee Olds and son Colby of Salt Lake City. Betty Reeves and two daughters of St. George spent Friday here with her mother and sister Lou Ella and Rosalie Hawkins. Lou Ella returned to By Carma Williams The 4th of July was a great celebration. As usual the young people were full of life and were up before dawn driving the fire engines, honking horns, following the band wagon. At sun-up a flag raising ceremony , by the Boy Scout Troop. At ten a parade program, at 10:30 a relief society bazaar in the afternnon, sports in the evening followed by a town supper and childrens dance at the Cobblecrest. We had many visitors from out of town enjoy the day with us. W The descendents of James G. Davis held a family reunion at the WarcLCultural Hall Sat. July 3. There" "Vwere 97 direct descendents in attendance. They came from surrounding towns and states. " Miss Valarie Blacken of Henderson, Nev. spent ai week here caring for the yards at their summer home. ' Mrs. Alva Batty spent a week in Salt Lake City with Mr. and Mrs. Dan Stokes. The Stokes small son was in the hospital with pnuemonia. Mr. and Mrs. Dick MacDonald and family of Salt Lake City spent a week here with their parents Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Davis. Mr. and Mrs. Bevan Williams and daughter Jody, Mr. and Mrs. Ricky Williams and family, Mr. and Mrs. Donald F. Sacaganan and family of Seattle, Wash., Mr. and Mrs. Terry Williams and family of Salt Lake City, spent two weeks here with another son and brother, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Williams and family. While here they poured the basement and built it up tothe square of Bevan's new home. He will retire in the near future. Mrs. Venna Briggs and small son Scott of Anaheim, Calif, are here spending a few weeks with her sister Mrs. Tressa Cornelius and girls. ' Miss Rosalie Hawkins spent St. George with her daughter to spend five days there. Harlene and Frank Sheppard enjoyed a visit from three of their grandchildren Valarie , Dick and Craig Morton of Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. Garth Pollock, Mark and Paula and Rick Blake of St. George; Mr. and Mrs. Greg Pollock and son of Cedar City spent the 4th holiday here at their mobile home, in 1 Delile and Gwen Davis and Ted and Shelley Currey left Monday for Salt Lake City where Delile will enter the St. Marks hospital for medical care. He is in poor condition. The members of the John Piatt family gathered at the home of Verna and Leonard Davis and family to a reunion held Friday and Sat. There were 68 of the sons and daughters, grandchildren grand-children and great grandchildren there. Miss Betty Dixion of Corona, Calif, has moved here to live with her mother, Mrs. Jackie Dixion. Mr. and Mrs. David Davies and family of St. George spent a few days here with their mother and brother Hazel and Henry. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Simms and four children of Salt Lake City spent from Friday to Tuesday here with Bert and Roberta Eastman. The Simms were their missionary friends when the Eastmans lived in Texas. Mrs. Hettie Polloch who has been living the past few months in Las Vegas with her daughter Roma Wood is here to spend a few days with her other daughter and son-in-law Opal and Ross Williams. Wavie and Laurence Peterson of San Diego, Calif, were in town last week visiting with relatives and friends. " The descendents of the Reese James Williams family held a family reunion Sunday at the church with 351 family members attending. We were happy to welcome back all our visitors from far and near to help celebrate the 4th of July with us. |
