Show LOOKING BACK By Dorothy Rogers Did you know-That know-That lots of people have a good aim in life. . . . but most of them don't know when to pull the trigger! ALSO - With all the money floating around, inflation would be a wonderful thing, if it weren' t for the high prices ! 50 years ago A fire broke out at the home of Harry Thorley on 3rd West St. The fire department responded in record time taking only 2'4 minutes from the time of the alarm to get to the Thorley home. Within 6 minutes water was being played on the fire, which was found to be on the roof. The damage was.slight, thanks to the quick arrival of the fire dept. and Harry Thorley showed his appreciation by contributing con-tributing $100 to the fireman's fund. Mr. Thorley felt the boys really earned the money, and that they saved his home for him. 25 years ago Captain Blaine Johnson, returned from Korea recently due to poor health and was home on sick leave. Upon his return from overseas he was sent to a hospital at Camp Cook, Calif, for treatment. Mr. Johnson recovered rapidly and it was hopeful that he would be released from the hospital in time to return to his position in the Music Dept. of the BAC in Sept. 10 years ago Bruce Decker walked off with top honors in the July 4 Field Day Tourney held at the Painted Hills Golf Course. Decker turned in a low net score of 68 over 18 holes followed by Tracy Williams with a low net of 69. In the long drive competition Steve Judd won honors with a drive of approximately 280 yards on the No. 7 fairway. Over 25 entered the tourney, according to Jack Hart, professional at the Golf Course. |
