Show 1 ,v- Some 29.6 million living veterans represent about 14 per cent of the nation's population, the Veterans Administration reported. The new building will be Armory for National Guard Unit The Utah National Guard Board announced to the Cedar City Council on Thursday, July 1 that they have accepted the low bid of Blackburn and Gower Construction Company to build" a new Armory. The site of construction is on land presently owned by the Cedar City Corporation, which is adjacent to the City Municipal Airport. The building costs have been estimated at $720,559 and the Council expects completion in the Fall of 1978. John S. Rowley, Architect, has designed the new Armory Building with the physical characteristics of the primary facility consisting of 22,000 square feet. The building will be a one story brick structure with concrete masonary units as backups which will include heating and air conditioning. Supporting features include grading, seeding, landscaping, parking area, extension of water, sewer and electrical power, sidewalk construction and a flag pole. The utilities will be connected to the existing water system and the newly constructed sewer system. The present condition of the Old Armory located on 100 East Street in Cedar City has many faulty facilities. The building is |
