Show City Animal Control Officer Mrs. Betty Neff , the new Cedar City Animal Control Officer, met ' with the Cedar City Council to discuss policies pertaining to her new position as dog catcher last Thursday, July 1. It was concluded that her schedule will be altered from time to time between the hours of 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. to accomodate citizen needs and a 40 hour week. The fixed hours will be from Monday through Friday at the shelter between 4 and 5 p.m. for cleaning, feeding and accepting of unwanted animals. She will also take care of the owners of animals which have been picked up, then, , Neff will keep dogs for a five day limit prior to putting them to sleep. She was given permission to put out for adoption certain "Blooded" animals, but with the emphasis to be on disposal of unwanted dogs in lieu of finding foster homes. People with pet problems are asked to call the city offices at 586-6514 during regular working hours. After hour emergency calls should be directed to the Police Department. If a true emergency exists, Mrs. Neff will be called. Yet, if in .the judgement of the Police Department, it is a problem which can be handled with regular business the, next day, it will be scheduled for action during the next-day's "working hours. , The Iron Councty. Record will run a picture of a puppy each . week that will be up for adoption , and interested persons should contact the Animal Control Officer at the Shelter during her new hours. |
