Show READY FOR OPENING. The just completed Adams Memorial Shakespearean Theatre on the Southern Utah State College campus in Cedar City is ready for the 1976 season which opens on Thursday, July 15. ( Opening production will be "The Tempest." I Adams Memorial Theatre completed; ready for opening The Utah Shakespearean Festival, which opens in Cedar City, Utah, July 15, is celebrating a special achievement ,11s this season. ThaAdamsMemorial Theatre, in planning and ' ' in various stages of construction for nearly 15 years, "will be " ' '"' I virtually completed in time for opening night. With the permanent roof in place, guests will be welcomed to a total I building-authentically styled with wrought-iron gates, a tall cupola, and three-level Tudor thrust stage. Permanent 1 armchair seating and an expanded lighting system I (although not the permanent one yet) will also be in place to greet the nearly 20,000 guests expected from many states anbd foreign countries. The completed building, complementing com-plementing the tall pines and rolling green lawns of I Southern Utah State College, is the realization of dreams, I , much hard work, and generous financial help from private ' sources. The Festival has chosen a Bicentennial theme, "Our Bonds with the Mother Country," and a special Highlight will be the display of authentic English Crown jewel replicas, loaned by the Four Queens Casino of Las Vegas. A -''display provided by the British Embassy, in Washington, . , D.C. and a letter of greeting from vhe British Ambassador to the United States will also remind visitors of the link wi.th William Shakespeare and England, i , ' Plays to be presented this summer are LOVE'S LABOUR'S LOST, directed by Sanford Robbins of Los Angeles City College, THE TEMPEST, directed by Robert Leonard from the Alley Theatre in Houston. Texas, and JULIUS CAESAR, directed by Howard Jensen of Indiana State University, who is returning to the Festival for his second season of directing. Plays will be presented in nighly rotation except Sundays until August 14. Prior to each evening's performance, which begins at 8:15 p.m.,' guests are invited to enjoy the pre-play festivities, again under the direction of Betsy Hamiltoa Ms. Hamilton has brought new innovations, variations and ' interest to her singing, dancing, and musical presentations. , |
