Show Utah State Board of Parks Meeting The next meeting of the : Utah State Board of Parks and Recreation will be held at 9 a.m. on Feb. 2nd in the Salt Lake headquarters, 1596 " West North Temple, Salt Lake City, Utah. All citizens are invited to attend this open meeting which will consider the following business items: minutes of Dec.2, 1978; budget requests; Sons of the Utah Pioneers Railroad Museum transfer to Wasatch Mountain State Park; Heber Creeper Concession; Legislation before the 1979 Legislature; and other miscellaneous matters. A special evening meeting following the regular Board meeting will be held at the State Office Building Auditorium, north of the State Capitol, from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. The purpose is to provide a Public Hearing concerning the request by the National Society of the Sons of Utah Pioneers for a site at Pioneer Trail State Park for a headquarters building and research" library. , Director, Harold J Tippetts of the Utah State Division of Parks and Recreation will conduct the hearing, make introductions, in-troductions, and provide background information on the Pioneer Trail project. Following Director Tippetts' presentation, the NSSUP will be invited to make a presentation of the use of their proposed building and what the public benefit might be. The NSSUP has proposed to the Utah State Division of Parks and Recreation that they be permitted to construe con-strue t a headquarters building at Pioneer Trail State Park near the "This is the Place" Monument on Sunnyside Avenue. The 1 proposed facility will include: in-clude: a research pioneer library, which will be available to the general public; a banquet hall also available to public groups; NSSUP 'office 'space; and parking space. The National Society, upon Division approval ap-proval of the project , will provide the necessary funds for construction of the facility, which will be donated to the Division upon completion. |
