Show By Dorothy Rogers December 1915 Notes: With a total output of 13,320,000 pounds, the wool crop of Utah in 1915 figured at 24.5 cents a pound, amounted to $3,263,400. This was an increase of $730,773 over the total value of $2,532,727 in 1914. ALSO : John Brown of Moab sold 550 of his herd of 600 cattle, to E. M. Gordon and William Graham of Gateway, Colo. Brown reserved 50 head of the finest stock for breeding 'purposes. The cattle went for a"'" ' ""JV price of $52.50 straight. January 1929 Notes: A drive for membership in the Cedar City Chamber of Commerce was on, and it was interesting to note what the Chamber accomplished in 1928 and what is contemplated for 1929 as follows : They spent $2,000 on the Airport, Government to spend $15,000; Spent $900 on the Branch Agricultural School (SUSC) Community athletic field; Assisted BAC in completing the gymnasium; gym-nasium; Made good will trips for benefit of the town. Plans for 1929 included; Expect to advertise industries and scenery; Expect to be ready for the changes in business and traffic due to the completion of the tunnel and bridge; Further aid BAC and complete airport, having grand opening and get air mail. Make the Chamber of Commerce a Club for every public-spirited man! February 1954 Notes: A change in ownership and management of the children's apparel shop that was operated by Mrs. Lillian Corry under the name of Lillian's Tot & Gift Shop for a number of years, has taken place. Mrs. Corry. forced to retire because of ill health, sold her interests in the shop to Mrs. Mary Jane Rollo, Mrs. Leslie Woolfe and Mrs. Geraldine Fisher. The store w as re-opened under the name of "Bob & Betty Shop" featuring children's apparel for boys and girls. The store was located in the Parks Theatre Building. (This building was originally the Orpheum Theatre and is now the Parks Office Building. |
