Show Contribution by Foster Parents Recognized "As Foster Parents you give these children much more than money can buy. You open your hearts and your homes to give these young people love, acceptance ac-ceptance and stability", said Richard Garrett of the Family Life Services. Mr. Garrett, District Director, was the Dinner Speaker at last week's banquet honoring Foster Parents in the area. He expressed the appreciation of the agency to the Foster Parents and to the workers involved in Foster Care. He indicated that it was through their efforts, patience and cooperation that the much needed Foster Care Program was able to work in this area. Mr. Garrett added that Foster Children are becoming more tophisticated and more difficult to deal with and so the agency is providing workshop s and classes to help with training and improving im-proving the skills of Foster Parents. Certificates of recognition were handed out to Foster r Parents in all counties in I District 5. Those parents who were unable to attend ' received their certificates through the mail. His speech gave the group new ideas in dealing with the age-old age-old problem of discipline while helping the child to develop a good self-esteem. Positive discipline skills helps the child see that it is the thing that he does that is wrong or bad instead of him being bad. Mr. Keith Anderson spoke about "Understanding Teen Problems" with ideas which were very helpful since right now the Agency's greatest need is for Foster Parents who are willing to take in Teenagers.
