Reginald Hughes, administrator, told the board members that "it was a great improvement over 1977 when they finished in $23,000 in the red." Hughes attributed the turn around in the financial condition of the hospital on several factors including the addition of an orthopedic surgeon on staff. "That has contributed substantially to the increase in the average length of stay for patients., WMC had an average length of stay of 4.2 days, including a factor for inclusion of out patient services. That compares to 5.0 days for the Intermountain Hospital Care (IHC) average and 5.6 days for the national average." They have served as the Board's officers since IHC began managing WMC two and one-half years ago. The board has elected as its new officers: Dr. Hanks as Chairman and Robert L.
