In addition to the activities of the Chapter members also receive a copy of the publication "Pioneers" which details activities of the national, state and local chapter activities of the SUP. A matching grant from the State of Utah has been approved ap-proved for the rennovation of Old Iron Town, officers of chapter of the Sons of Utah Pioneers announced this week., "Much of the activity of the coming year will be centered around this development," commented Lorin Condie, newly elected president of the Cedar City Chapter. "We hope to provide much of the matching funds in the form of work and materials," he said. New officers for the 1979 year elected to serve with Condie include: Richard Stucki, first vice president; Willard Lunt, second vice president; H. P. Dotson, third vice president; Warren Woolsey, immediate past president; Elwood Corry, Chaplin; Alva Matheson, Historian and Loran Hirschi, secretary and treasurer. Phil Robins of Salt Lake City, President of the National organizaton of the Sons of Utah Pioneers was in attendance at the annual bread and milk supper sponsored by the Cedar City Chapter. He outlined plans for the coming year. He was accompanied by his wife. The Cedar City Chapter is. also attempting to encourage en-courage a runner to participate par-ticipate in the 1,400 mile relay run commemorating the pioneer trek from Nauvoo, 111., to the Salt Lake Valley. The event is being co-spoonsored by the SUP and the Deseret News. Each chapter, Condie indicated, is asked to participate par-ticipate by providing a runner for one of the 10-mile legs of the relay which will be run May 23 and 24. Anyone in the area interested in-terested in participating should contact one of the chapter officers. "We hope to have a series of special treks, encampments en-campments and other social events this year," Condie indicated. Particularly the organization is planning to participate in the National Encampment to be held at Escalante Sept. 21 and 22, he said.
