Dr. Galen Brown, President of the Southern Utah Dental Association, formally presented a cabinet to house Dental Health Materials to Herman Houston of the Southwest Educational Development Center on Friday, January 26, just in time for National Childrens Dental Health Week, February 4, through 10. The idea for the Cabinet, a year in the making, was conceived by Mrs. Paul Lunt and executed by Dental Health Auxiliary Chairman, Mrs. Leslie D. Burbidge. Funds for the cabinet were provided by the Southern Utah Dental Auxiliary. The cabinet provides a place for area Dentists to place Dental Health Education ' materials for the use of the schools and communities in Washington Iron, Garfield, Beaver, Millard and Kane Counties. ,r The films, pamphlets, books, . demonstration models and many other items will aid teachers and Dentists in teaching the value and necessity of Dental Health in relationship to good overall health. The local and Utah Dental Associations will add new materials to keep the cabinet as current as funds and donations allow. The Iron County PTA Council recently donated an ADA film "The Haunted Mouth" to the cabinet from funds provided from past PTA Dental Health projects. , The funds remaining from the projects will provide more teaching aids. Materials from the cabinet can be obtained by the schools and community by either visiting the Center directly and filling out a request form or ordering through the schools in the counties serviced by the SEDC. The SEDC has a regular schedule of delivery and pick up to these schools. The wide spread function of this cabinet further increases in-creases its value to Southern Utah Communities. |
