Show Deer Kill increases Ma little" Early figures from the 1977 deer harvest are in and they show an increase in local hunters and also an increase in the number of deer taken. As of Monday evening, the Bloomington checkstation showed a 25 percent success rate, and Division of Wildlife officials said they expected it to go up just a bit from that. Statewide figures last year showed a 33-34 percent kill and most indications show this year to be about the same, DWR said. The Bloomington station, DWR added, has nearly 100 percent non-resident hunters. hun-ters. As of Monday evening, the southern station showed 5,704 hunters, 1,675 deer taken, for a 29.3 percent success. Compared with last year's figures of 4,992 hunters, 1636 deer killed for 33.2 percent, (last year's comparative figures are prorated, pro-rated, showing one day left in the hunt.) The Daniels Canyon checking station near Heber City showed 19,692 hunters by Monday, with 2,848 deer, 14 percent. 1976 figures from that station reveal 19,196 hunters, 2,487 deer taken and 13 percent. The Spanish Fork station, checking hunters returning to the Wasatch Front from Eastern and Southern Utah, showed 32,979 hunters with 4,789 deer killed, 14.5 percent. per-cent. Last year: 29,647 hunters, 3,455 deer, 11.5 percent. Statewide, DWR game managers are predicting an increase of 8-9 percent over last year, probably around 39 percent. Final figures will be in in February, after mailed questionaires complete the data. . |
