Show IRON MISSION DAYS EVENTS November 7 -12, 1977 Friday, November 11 11 a.m. Dedication of the Chaffin Mill Monument at the Mill site at the mouth of Caol Creek Canyon (East of new city park) 2 p.m. DUP meeting honoring pioneers at the 1st Ward. (Rock Church) Mrs. Sidney Hahne is the featured speaker. Appropriate musical numbers. Poetry winners will be announced by the Southern Utah Poetry Society and the three winning poems will be read. ( 4 p.m. Dinner by invitation at the Iron Mission State Monument Site. The Master Plan for the Monument will be presented. 6:30 p.m. Cedar City Utah National Guard Armory Dedication scheduled at the new Armory Building on the Airport Road. Tours of the Armory will precede and folow the formal dedication program. 9-12 p.m. Cedar City's 2nd Annual Birthday Ball will be held in the Armory. The Birthday Ball is a semi-formal dance. The music will be provided by the Big Band-live. Come and be the guests of Mayor Jones, the City Council, and the Cedar City National Guard, Lt. Col. Jim Miller, Commander. There will be refreshments. A Grand March is contemplated with the Governor and Mrs. Matheson and General and Mrs. Watts leading out under the direction of LaVeve Whetten. Special honors at intermission. Saturday, November 12 5 -6:30 p.m. Lions Club Community Hamburger Bar-be-cue at the Iron Mission State Monument. Food prices will be kept to a minimum. All Week Open House at the DUP Museum (Mattie Booth home across the street from the Rock Church) from 10:00a.m. to5p.m. Open House at the Iron Mission State Monument all week with I special events for Saturday. Free horse-drawn vehicle rides. Entertainment. En-tertainment. Display of the Monument Master Plan. Exhibits in business windows during the week. Cedar City Sales Promotion Friday and Saturday. |
