' ' Na'rhed i' the "recipient ' of Uie '"Of-".'" fensive Player of the week was wide receiver Ben Dodson. Gil Rodriguez was accorded the honors as the Defensive Player of the Week, according ac-cording to Roger Davis, president of the QB Club. Dobson, a junior from Huntington Beach, Calif, is the leading pass receiver for SUSC this season. He hauled in two Touchdown passes against the Mustangs, one a 61 yard scamper, his longest of the season. Dobson in seven games has 40 receptions recep-tions for 282 yards. He is averaging 83.1 yards per game and 14.6 yards per catch. With his two TD receptions Saturday he has six to his credit over the season. He is tied with Rich Hernandez with six touchdowns and total scoring, each 'with 36. Rodriguez is a defensive tackle from Los Angeles, Calif. He is a senior and weighs in at 210 pounds. Rodriguez is one of the leading defensive players for the entire season with a total of 128 defensive points-based on tackles, fumble recoveries, pass interceptions, blocked punts and quarterback sacks. The defensive stalwart has a total of 87 tackles to his credit, 14 of them unassisted. He has also been credited with nine quarterback sacks, which is tied for the top effort so far this season. For Rodriguez it is his fourth season with the T-Birds and Coach Tom Kingsford. |
