Show Minersville Ward wins Senior M-Men title in meet on week end In the final round of the Cedar Region M-Men basket-I basket-I ball tournament in the Paro-owan Paro-owan High School gym last week end the team from the Parowan Third Ward representing repre-senting Parowan Stake, and the team from Minersville Ward of the Beaver Stake met for the region championship, with the Beaver stake representative repre-sentative taking the win by a wide margin. The score in this game was 65 to 52. Thus the Wincrsville team is regional champion of the old-der old-der mens league in the MIA basketball play, and the Cedar Ce-dar Third Ward is the consola-1 tion champion. The team from i the Milford Ward was awarded award-ed the coveted sportsmanship trophy, for the fine way its players conducted themselves in the meet. Vying for the consolation honors were the Cedar Third ; Ward of Cedar Stake and the Parowan Second Ward of Par-) wan Stake and the Cedar i entry took the game by a 51 to 41 score. In the optnins round cf the tournament on Wednesday the team from Minersville ran rough shod over the team from the Cedar First Ward by a 68 to 36 score; Parowan Third eked out a win over the Cedar 11, 67 to 65 after having a 20 point lead at halftime; Cedar Second came up with a two-point two-point win over the Parowan Second, and Milford won over the Cedar Third by a 58 to 50 score. j in championship pay on , Thursday night Parowan Third took a 63 to 56 win from the i Milford team and Minersville took a thriller from the Cedar West Second, 59 to 51, in a game that was closer than that much of the way. In consolation play Thursday, Thurs-day, two Cedar teams met, the Cedar 11th and Cedar Tihrd. with the Third winning by a score of 59 to 54, and the Tar-wan Tar-wan Second took the measure of Cedar First by a 79 to 45 score. Therefore the Cedar Third met the Tarowan Second Sec-ond for third and fourth place honors. |
