Show II -15 Beau tifica tion project approved by Cedar Cfty Council An agreement was approved Thursday by the Cedar City Council with the State Road Commission for 'the landscaping landscap-ing of Interstate Highway 15 through the city. Mayor Loren Whetten indicated indi-cated that the State would handle the landscaping, which would include shrubbery and trees plus maintenance. The city would be required to provide pro-vide water for irrigation purposes. pur-poses. The Council also authorized the signing of an agreement with the Iron Mission Park for the use of city owned property proper-ty on Main Street north of the Coal Creek Bridge and west of Main Street for a nominal fee. The organization plans to erect facilities to house items for the Park. The Council also approved the hiring of an addition to the Police Force under a Federally Fed-erally granted PEP program. Funds are issued through the state and will terminate in August unless renewed, the Mayor indicated. Street oiling program that was delayed last fall owing to weather conditions will be be resumed as soon as possible possi-ble the council indicated. Approval Ap-proval was given for the completion com-pletion of that program which includes 200, 300 and 400 East from 200 to 400 North Streets and 700 and 1100 West Street. The Mayor emphas'ized that this was the completion of last year's program and that additional oiling will also be undertaken for the 1972 year at a later date. Property owners on those streets who have not yet installed in-stalled their curb and gutter or who have not yet made their commitments to the city were encouraged to do so prior, to the beginning of work. Authorization was given for the annexation of 10.7 acres of land belonging to Max Thorley and adjacent to the Thorley subdivision west of the city. However, two subdiv-Lsion subdiv-Lsion plans were presented for approval and tabled owing to incomplete information. Steve Judd was approved by the council to serve as the green's keeper and in charge of equipment maintenance at the Painted Hills Golf Course. ' A Public Hearing to consider con-sider selling of a parcel of land owned by the city and adjacent to Cedar City High , School was set for April 6 at 9 p.m. The property joins high school land near the Southeast South-east corner. |
