Show Ram baseball team drops games to Dixie Flyers The Parowan High School baseball team traveled to St. George last Friday afternoon where they tangled with the Dixie High School Flyers in a double-header practice session, ses-sion, and came out loser in both games, according to Bill Farr, coach. The Flyers took the measure of the Rams 4 to 0 in the opener a 7-inning affair, af-fair, and then chalked up a 12 to 0 win in the five-inn-ning nightcap. Kenny Adams, first string pitcher for the Rams, went for five innings in the opener, and allowed only three hits. Craig Bentley, pitched the last two innings and was able to keep out of trouble. In this game several errors proved to be costly to the Ram cause, The Parowan players hit the ball very well, but seemed to hit it to where the Dixie players play-ers could get it. In the second game, Farr give his younger players an oportunity to get a little experience, ex-perience, and although they lost, they got the experience they needed. In this game Bentley started and went two innings, and then gave way to David Munger, a new man on the squad who pitched the final three innings. In this game Karl Bentley, Brent Barton, Dave Lamoreaux and Jerry Johnson showed up quite well for the younger members. The next game for the Rams will be held on the Parowan diamond on Tuesday, March 28, at 2:30 with the Enterprise Wolves as opponents. League play will begin the following week, April 7, at which time Parowan will meet the Delta Rabbits in an afternoon after-noon game. Friday, April 14 the Rams have a bye, but will meet the Hurricane Tigers Tig-ers in a practice game at Hurricane. Hur-ricane. League play will resume re-sume April 21, with Parowan going to Fillmore for a game with the Millard Eagles On April 28 the Rams will go to Milford for a game with the Tigers, and then on Friday, May 5, the Parowan and Braver Bra-ver teams will meet at Parowan Paro-wan in the final game. (A CORRECTION) Last week, in listing the players on the Parowan High baseball team, in our rush, we inadvertently left off two important members of the squad, the shortstops, They are Craig Bentley and Russell Mortensen. And you will notice no-tice that Bentley also does some of the pitching chores for the team, going for two innings in each of the two games Friday.. ricase excuse us this time, and will try to not let it happen again. |
