Show Cooperative offers youth tour for essay winners All-expense paid Rural Electric Elec-tric Youth Tour to the Nation's Na-tion's capital city will be awarded to winners of an essay-writing contest was announced an-nounced by R. Leon Bowler, manager of Escalante Valley Electrict Association In Beryl. All high school sophomores, uniors and seniors in the area served by the cooperative are eligible to enter the contest, Mr. Bowley said. Winners will join winners of similar contests con-tests sponsored by other Rural Electric Co-ops air js c e United States. All expenses of the seven-day trip, beginning June 7, 1969, will be paid by Escalante Valley Electric Association, As-sociation, Mr. Bowler said. Contest entrants will be required to submit a 500-word essay on the subject of Rural Electrification. Resource materials ma-terials that may be helpful to contestants are available from the cooperative office. Essays will be judged on the basis of (1) knowledge of the subject, 40, (2) originality, origin-ality, 30, (3) composition, 10, (4) neatness, $10 and (5) grammar, 10. Deadline for submitting; essays es-says will be April 21, Mr. Bowler said. On the basis of the essays, finalists will be selected to appear in person for an oral quiz. This is the fourth year that Escalante Valley Electric Cooperative Co-operative has sponsored an essay writing contest. Winner last year was Kent Holt of Beryl. The highlight of the trip according to Kent was meeting President Johnson. |
